While the census provides no shortage of fascinating insights – and official statistics which underpin our current population statistics system – it does so only once a decade. Therefore, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) is keen, to transform its approach to population and social statistics so it can produce statistics that are timely, more frequent, and can adapt quickly to changing user needs.
At the heart of this exciting programme of work, which the ONS will be consulting on, will be a greater use of existing data sources from across the public sector (‘administrative data’). By bringing together information from those and other sources, the ONS hopes to deliver the high-quality data and analysis needed to inform local and national decision making in the UK, improve lives and build for the future.
In this webinar, you’ll hear from the ONS about these plans, the consultation and how your feedback will help inform the future of population statistics.
Please note, the webinar will be:
- in English only, but you will have an opportunity to ask questions / raise comments in Welsh via the chat function.
