We are bombarded with data on a daily basis; on our televisions, smartphones, computers, radios, in newspapers, on billboards, posters, and signs, from the media, commentators, our colleagues and our friends. When dealing with so much data, clear and accurate presentation is essential. You must make sure that your messages are easily understood, interpreted, and attract attention amongst all the other data out there.

This course gives practical advice and guidance to help you present your data effectively, and to make sure that your audience understands the intended messages quickly and easily.

In this course we will cover:

  • What presenting data is, why it is important and the core principles
  • How to present:
    • numbers
    • data in tables
    • data in charts
    • data in maps
    • data in infographics
  • Data presentation tools.

Who the course is for

This training course is aimed at local government colleagues. Please note: there is a maximum of two delegates per council.

This course will be useful for colleagues who use or produce data – basically everyone! It is particularly useful for people who need to present data regularly in tables, charts, maps or text. The course is intentionally ‘basic’ in its approach and content, and little or no previous knowledge of statistical presentation is required.

Please note, this course will be delivered in English only. All materials will be available in Welsh. The course will last about 2.5 hours.
