Engagement with older people's groups / Ymgysylltu gyda grwpiau pobl hŷn Free

Last summer, Heléna Herklots, Older People’s Commissioner for Wales, held several engagement sessions with community and organisation representatives from across Wales to hear about their experiences of lockdown and the impact the virus was having on older people’s lives. The experiences that we heard during those meetings were used as the basis of our ‘Leave no-one behind: Action for an age-friendly recovery’ report.

We are now looking to organise another round of engagement sessions to hear more from older people throughout Wales about their continuing experiences, and we are particularly keen to hear about how people’s mental health has been affected by the pandemic:

• How the mental health of older people has been affected?

• What is needed to help older people regain, improve or maintain good mental health?

• Examples of services and support that are helping older people with their mental health during lockdown

• If Ageism has played its role in affecting the mental health of older people, and if it is prevalent within mental health services

What is shared and discussed at these engagements will help inform the Commissioner’s 2021/22 workplan. These meetings will be held on Zoom and the session for your area will be held on 15 April 2-3pm and we’d really welcome the opportunity to hear from you.
