Storyteller Cath Little

Y Crochan // The Cauldron

An evening of storytelling with Cath Little and friends

Saturday 24th October 2020 at 7.30pm online via Zoom

Sit back and get lost in tales of times past, of cauldrons and the mysteries within. Told in a mixture of Welsh and English by storytellers from North and South Wales, get drawn into the possibilities of the Pair Dadeni, the Cauldron of Rebirth.

We'll begin with our special guest! All the way from Cardiff, storyteller and author Cath Little will be sharing the story of ‘The Hallows Queen’, a re-imagining of the story of Peredur from the Mabinogion. We meet, among others, a wise mother, nine witches, a very angry girl and the mysterious Hallows Queen herself. This ancient British Grail legend has resonance for our times: how do we heal the wasteland?

After a little interval, we’ll also hear other tales of cauldrons and more from local storytellers, including Siân Miriam and Claire Mace. Want to tell a story too? Bring one along (max 5-10 minutes long) and let us know :)

Tickets £5 (£2.50 concessions)

More about Cath Little

Cardiff-based Storyteller and Singer Cath Little has “rough magic” in her voice and in her words “the gift of the story shines through”. She recognises that stories have the power to connect us to one another, to the land and to the people who once lived here.

Cath draws inspiration from her Irish and English heritage and from her Welsh homeland. Cath is passionate about sharing these ancient treasures, gifts from the ancestors. She believes stories belong to us all and are meant to be heard.

She is the author of Glamorgan Folk Tales for Children, published by The History Press.

Cath has told stories at storytelling festivals in Wales and beyond, and regularly tells at The National Museum of Wales. She also tells stories in local schools and runs a storytelling circle at Oasis, a Cardiff charity which offers a warm Welsh welcome to refugees and asylum seekers.
