Lantern and Boy

A fantastic chance to create and take part in one of the many exciting celebrations to mark the opening of Canolfan S4C Yr Egin. This fun and free workshop in the company of the experienced makers from Small World Theatre will be an opportunity for everyone to make their own lantern, ready for the parade on the 25 October.

On the theme of light and energy the lantern journey will travel from St Catherine's Walk, which is located in the centre of the ancient town of Carmarthen up College Road to Yr Egin itself. This is an opportunity for the whole community from the youngest to the oldest to take part and to ignite creativity at a special event marking a new era for Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire, west Wales and the whole nation.

The materials for making the lantern are provided and the workshop is suitable for children over 6 years of age. Spend the morning creating your lantern framework using sustainable materials then get messy in the afternoon adding glue and tissue paper. The advice is to wear clothes that you are happy to get a little dirty. Bring a pack lunch or make the most of the lovely cafes in town as it will be a whole day. All lanterns are stored safely until the Parade. Register today so that you don't miss out!

Many thanks to St Catherine's Walk for the kind use of their premises.
